These aren’t the first pair of Elites I’ve reviewed, but these Saucony Shadow 5000 Elite Bodega in blue belong in the same category!
The Bodega elite Shadow 5000s dropped in 2010 in 4 colorways such as this one featuring an offwhite midsole with a gum bottom. All four saw a retro in 2016 and this is one of those. Each pair features the Bodega logo on the tongue tag.
My first instinct is to rock these with some black pants, but finding an appropriate top is tough with that combo. An easier route is to go with some light colored jeans and a white or light grey top. I find the stark blue upper to contrast well against lighter pants. Khakis and light grey pants can work as well here.
The colorway, materials and the fact that this is an affordable collab that make these so on point. After these and the teals, I totally want to complete the set! I highly recommend these for fans of the 5k, Bodega, or just dope runners in general.
Materials
Similar to the teal pair, the materials on these are really good. These share the same premium suede upper, but mix in some nice smooth leather above the midsole and a mesh toebox. Combine that with the leather ankle liner and you have a kick that screams quality.
Fit
The Saucony Shadow 5000 Elite Bodega in blue fit true to size. I was able to go a half size down for a snug but comfortable fit. The way the leather butts against the mesh is a little weird, but at a half size down the proper pointy toe shape is maintained. Just like any other Shadow 5000, you will be hard pressed to find a more comfortable retro runner.
